License Fees for Cars, Light Trucks and Trailers
Hampton City Code requires that every owner of a motor vehicle, trailer and/or semitrailer normally garaged, stored or parked within the city limits pay a license fee on or before December 5th of the proceeding license year, or within 10 days of purchasing a state license for such vehicle, or within thirty (30) days of moving the situs of the vehicle to the city, whichever is sooner. The license tax imposed on all motor vehicles, trailers or semitrailers with situs in the city, as described in Article II of the Hampton City Code, for any portion of the year between January 1 and June 30 are listed below.

No license fee shall be imposed on vehicles that do not have a situs in the city as described in Article II of the Hampton City Code between January 1 and June 30 of the license year.
