The 709-foot pier is located near Point Comfort Road, in the same area as the previous pier which was destroyed by Hurricane Isabel. The new pier, supported by concrete pilings with wooden decks and railings, is 16 feet wide and is equipped with rest rooms, a snack bar and bait shop. The T section at the end of the pier is 70 feet wide and 29 feet long. The pier also has two shelters, two fish cleaning stations, and an adjacent parking lot. During this first season, as the city determines the most practical usage schedules for the future, the pier will be open 24/7 through the fishing season. Typical fishing season for the area runs April through October.
All required licensing for the general public to fish off the pier has been purchased.

Yes, up until the first shelter area. This area has been designated as a crabbing area. You don't need to have a special license - it is covered under the fishing fee that all those who fish or crab will pay.
- What kind of bait does the Buckroe Pier sell?
They sell live bloodworms (blood worms), frozen shrimp, squid and minnows and fish bites, which is artificial bait.
- What kinds of passes are available at the Buckroe Pier?
There is a monthly or 30 day pass that is good for 30 consecutive days from the date of purchase. There is also a seasonal pass that is good for the traditional season of April - October of a calendar year (not from April-April or October-October).
