SALARIES: Mayor - $25,000, Council Members - $22,590
NOTE: Councilmembers are elected to staggered four-year terms by the citizens of Hampton in general councilmanic elections on the first Tuesday in May. The elections are held every two years. Beginning in 1982, the Mayor was elected by the citizens for a two-year term; thereafter, the Mayor is elected for a four-year term. The Council selects a Vice Mayor and appoints the City Manager.
