Who is Protected?The City of Hampton is committed to providing a work environment free of all forms of harassment. Any employee who believes that their race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability or any legally protected status is or has been a factor in any adverse employment action or is the basis for a hostile work environment or has experienced sexual harassment while on the job should bring the matter to the attention of their supervisor or department head. If the supervisor or department head is involved in or has allowed the practice to continue, or if the subject of discrimination or harassment simply prefers to do so, he/she should contact either the Department of Human Resources or the EEO Office. Employees must be aware that once an allegation is made which indicates a potential or actual violation of any law and/or regulation pertaining to employment discrimination, including sexual harassment, an investigation will be initiated immediately in accordance with city policy. |
