Permanent Full-Time Uniformed Fire and Rescue Employees will be paid educational or certification incentive pay according to the following schedule:
Associate's Degree (AA) or it's equivalent in job-related field of study identified by the Fire Chief - $600/year
Bachelor Degree (BS) in job-related field of study identified by the Fire Chief - $700/year
Master's Degree in job-related field of study identified by the Fire Chief and 10 years of employment in a Fire and Rescue position assigned to the Public Safety Pay Schedule - $2,200/year
EMT-C or EMT-I certification AND 5 yeas of employment in a Fire and Rescue position assigned to the Public Safety Pay Schedule - $1,600
EMT-P certification $4,000

Employee's of the City of Hampton fall under the Virginia Retirement System (VRS)
Currently, uniformed personnel may retire with full benefits at age 50 and with 25 years of service.
