Michele Woods-Jones
Michele Woods- Jones relocated to Hampton, Virginia in 1991 and has developed a series of effective training
models and successful intervention strategies for a wide array of organizations in the Mid-Atlantic area. She is
currently working with the Virginia Department of Transportation – Hampton Roads region as the Senior Consultant
with the Diversity Leadership Team development initiative, the Inventing Our Future initiative with the Special
Education Department, Norfolk Public Schools and a facilitator/trainer in the Hampton City Diversity College. She
participated in coordinating community multicultural training and development programs in several cities, public
school systems and educational institutions. She trains and facilitates for business executives and city managers,
administrative and professional staff in organizational/services planning and assessment, and serves as a consultant
in organizational development, human relations services, work relations, diversity education and management as well
as multicultural communication, facilitation and conflict resolution services for various cities, businesses and community services organizations including: Hampton, Newport News, Suffolk, Chesapeake, Williamsburg and James City
County, Leesburg, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Ashland and Virginia Beach in Virginia.
She has facilitated training for professional staff and paraprofessionals in both public and private school systems,
Hampton University, Christopher Newport University, Thomas Nelson Community College and served as Management Resource
Consultant and Facilitator with the Human Resources and Organizational Development departments for the Logistics
Divisions of Sunoco, Hershey, Northrop Grumman Newport News, The Virginian-Pilot Newspaper, Eastern Virginia Medical
School, Sentara Hampton General Hospital, Peninsula Reads, Vision 2000, Inc. and numerous community, state and
federally funded services such as Peninsula Aids Foundation, the Red Cross, Contact Response (Rape Counseling Center),
Hampton Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions, Inc. [H.E.L.P.], and Project Inclusion. She has been invited as keynote
speaker for national groups, such as, the National Association of Business and Professional Women, Tri-State
Division of Public Works, The Links, Inc., The Junior League, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., International
Personnel Management Association and the National Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation.
Ms. Woods-Jones facilitated the design process in the development and implementation of the Citizens’ Unity
Commission for the City of Hampton, coordinated parents in a planning process which created a parent support
education model and a violence prevention program for Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia. She maintains
her California connections with a training contract with the State Police Association and as a member of The
California Alumni Association Board of Directors.
