For structures located in the 100-year floodplain, there is a 26% chance of experiencing a flood during the life of a 30-year mortgage. To recover from a flood, it is important that all renters, home and business owners consider purchasing flood insurance to cover their personal property and/or premises. Most homeowners and commercial insurance policies exclude coverage for flooding. Flood insurance policies are available through insurance agents for homes or businesses in communities that have joined the National Flood Insurance Program. The City of Hampton participates in the NFIP. A flood insurance policy is administered by an insurance company and is provided by the federal government. A policy can help provide protection for residential and commercial buildings. Contents coverage must be purchased separately.

A flood policy provides coverage for direct physical loss due to flooding. Claims may be settled on a replacement or actual cash value cost basis up to your policy limits. A deductible will apply. Contact your insurance agent for details.
