The Brandons, Hampton's Oscar-like awards for the premiere asset builders in the community, are given each year to a select group of people who incorporate the Developmental Assets into the exemplary work they do to nurture, support, and empower Hampton's youth. 2005 Brandons:
This year The Brandons coincided with Hampton's selection as one of the 100 BEST Communities for Young People. The award, given by America's Promise based on our city's commitment to youth, helped make the 2005 celebration special since many of the honorees and guests are the very reason that Hampton is considered such a great place for youth and families. Michael Chapman, a junior at Hampton High and Mary Haug, a junior at Phoebus High, spoke of the importance of developmental assets from a young person's perspective.
