Asset #14 - Adult Role Models.

"Let us put our heads together and see what life we will make for our children" - Sitting Bull

In Patricia Hersch's "A Tribe Apart," a study of heartland youth in the '90s, she claimed that teens interviewed averaged only 15 minutes per day interaction with adults outside of the school setting. Knowing what to say to each other is one reason non-parent adults and kids often avoid talking. Help young people identify five topics they can discuss with adults. Set up three minute "practice sessions" with each peer having a chance to be an adult. Join them in evaluating the "practice".
