Creativity: A Few tips to begin with preschoolers and elementary-age children
Use your imagination together
- Relax, smile, take off your shoes, run, wade, dream
- Have a tea party-discuss inviting favorite book characters
- Pick a flower bouquet
- Build sand castles
- Talk about where the boats go
- Go on a "what's that" hunt. Ask children what they see
- Sing a song together; play singing games
- Put on music to dance to
- Make instruments using household objects, utensils
- Listen to children's favorite music with them
- Go to a student recital, school concert
- Art works too and simply
- Finger paint or color together
- Look at photographs together
- Hang up children's artwork at home or at work
- Find an interesting craft to do together
- Go to a museum, park, zoo or other interesting place
- Read picture books with colorful illustrations and
- photographs together - act -out the characters
- Have puppet shows
- Write a play together
- Watch a TV show together -discuss the actors roles
- Go to a live theater production together
