"Our whole lives are a long journey to becoming ourselves. At various times we have different motivators - the people (some old, some new) who become the interwoven fabric of "personal community" for us or the skills they help us develop or the goals we set and meet or don't quite meet and re-set, or the opportunities to do, to see, to touch, to care, to become. Likewise our kids care about achieving because lots of people invest in caring about them.
