Attention adults! In a 2003 survey 46% of Hampton youth indicated having equality and social justice among their assets. Because this value is so integral to our democracy, we need to be conscientious about our efforts to pass it on. Think about modeling activism. Help kids research issues and determine at what level they can make the greatest impact. Celebrate youth power as exhibited through critical thinking about organization and implementation. Encourage them to find and to speak out of their own voices. Emphasize the non-violent practices of Gandhi and King.
