Holiday seasons are the supreme tests of our ability to listen attentively to and enjoy one another. Multi -generational family gatherings are often the hardest.* Perhaps you've noticed young people "eat and run" quicker at these events. Too often they sense that some family members have converged because ancestry rather than connectedness. Avoid having young people feeling displaced. Engage them in year round conversations about relatives and relationships. Discuss and decide different ways your immediate family can "meet" other family members.
