Asset #36 - Peaceful Conflict Resolution - Young person seeks to resolve conflicts nonviolently. "Stand up for the things that are right. Try to talk things out instead of fight" - Robert Alan THOUGHTS TO DISCUSS WITH TEENS Being peaceful doesn't mean never having conflicts. It means knowing how to resolve conflicts without using hurtful words and physical force. The next time you tangle with someone, give yourself a day to cool down, if you can. Then talk about what happened. Talk about the events that led up to the conflict. Talk about how you feel. Ask the other person to talk about how he or she feels. Really listen. Try to understand the other person's point of view. Come up with solutions together. Agree on one to try. Then try it. If that solution doesn't work, choose another.
