Young people need parents to talk to, but they also need other adults to bounce ideas of, ask questions of, laugh with and to help sort through sticky situations. With your child, identify all the adults they regularly interact with - hopefully they'll list three or more nonparent adults. If not, help them connect with adults who share a similar interest or who lead an activity your youngster might enjoy. Discuss with your kids, how to show appreciation to those adults who are so important to them.
