Friday, April 28, 2006 Asset #4 - Caring Neighborhoods "The good neighbor looks beyond the external accidents and discerns those inner qualities that make all men human and, therefore, brothers." Martin Luther King, Jr. An asset builder shares some thoughts for this May which is Neighborhood Month in Hampton. Visions, strategies and government do not ALONE create sustainable neighborhoods - only people can do that. It is our neighbors and their children - whose first names we know, with whom we exchange home visits, whose lives we are part of, who help us stay open minded and receptive to the changes in our personal and civic lives. They are the ones who create surrogate families for our children. During May pay special tribute to your neighbors.
