Students might look to any other student or any adult working within the school building - not just their teacher - for relationships. If they have a run in with a bully, you want them to be able to talk with someone they trust trust, someone they believe cares about them; it doesn't matter to your kid how much that person is paid or where that person figures in the school hierarchy.
