Friday, April 21, 2006 Asset #9 - Service to Others Children are more likely to share and serve when they believe their contribution is useful and meaningful. Learning to serve isn't automatic; it must be learned. Adults model sharing. Families establish norms and expectations of their commitment to community service. Kids participate in decisions about ways to help others. Organizations and school teach and practice service learning. Seeing service to others as integral to the community's well being will encourage kids to jump right in.
