About The Athletic Hall Of Fame

The Athletic Hall of Fame of the Lower Virginia Peninsula was established February 13, 1971 by Hampton City Council. It is dedicated to those persons whose athletic achievement has brought honor and recognition to themselves and to the Lower Virginia Peninsula. The Hampton Coliseum's second level was selected as the ideal site to house the Hall of Fame. The original committee was composed of "Duff" Kliewer, Andy Greenwell, Robert Moskowitz, Rufus Gant, Bernard Sparrer and Harry Covert.
