Charles S. Karmosky 1989 Hall of Fame Inductee For 35 years, he filled the sports pages of the Daily Press with the Sportscope, a column which appeared at least five times a week. A true baseball lover who covered the old Newport News Baby Dodgers in the Piedmont League, and the Carolina League in later years. He didn't lose sight of the importance of local coverage, especially the high school scene. He founded the Peninsula Sports Club and was its "Man of the Year" in 1958. The former past president of the PSC also was a member of the honors court of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, and a member of the Hall of Fame Committee of the Lower Virginia Peninsula Hall of Fame. He also founded and presided over the Tri-County Baseball League (1948-1955). |
