Jerry Holmes 2008 Hall of Fame Inductee Holmes has had success as a player and as a coach from Bethel High School to the National Football League to Hampton University. After graduating from Bethel High School, he played defensive back for two years at Chowan and two more at West Virginia, where he was team MVP in 1979. He played professionally for 12 seasons with five teams and was a two-time all-star selection in the United States Football League. After 17 years as a college and NFL assistant coach, he was named head coach at Hampton University in early 2008. |
