Nomination CriteriaA nominee must be either a native of the Lower Peninsula (the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and York County) specifically, that he or she was born in the Lower Virginia Peninsula area and / or resided for ten (10) years of his or her life on the Lower Virginia Peninsula before taking up residence elsewhere, or be a permanent resident of the Lower Virginia Peninsula. The athletic achievement must be on Statewide, National or International basis for such period of time as may be decided acceptable by the Hall of Fame Committee. The achievement could have been athletic, coaching, or an area that has impacted the promotion and reflection of sports on the Lower Virginia Peninsula. The nominee must be at least 25 years of age at time of nomination. Awards can also be given posthumously.
