A world class sprinter, he achieved national recognition at Hampton High School and Norfolk State University in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. He captured a Gold Medal for the United States as anchor man for the 440-yard relay team. In 1977 he won 16 straight indoor track victories. A 9.2 second competitor in the 100-yard dash he ran for the Philadelphia Pioneers. He is a member of the Virginia Athletic Sports Hall of Fame.
