A Peninsula Sports Club "Man of the Year" (1973), this Newport News High School graduate also achieved national and some international fame as a golf teacher, once being nominated for the prestigious Vardon Teaching Trophy. A one-time state championship team member at NNHS, he also served on the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) staff. The long-time former pro at Hampton Country Club made a career of tutoring and correcting flaws for outstanding amateur and PGA tour stars - a monument in dedication to golfing excellence.
