Hampton Clean City Commission Board Positions Open in July

May 3, 2010

The Hampton Clean City Commission has two volunteer board positions opening in July due to members rotating off the board. If you are interested in becoming part of the governing body of the Hampton Clean City Commission, please click HERE, click on Clean City Commission on the right sidebar, then click fill out an application on the box that pops up. Appointments will be made in June, so if you are interested, fill out the board application right away!

Hampton Clean City Commission board members are volunteers interested in improving the physical environment of the City of Hampton through litter prevention, beautification, and solid waste awareness. They sign on for four-year terms, with one renewal possible. Board members chair committees, lead ad hoc committees, and take responsibility for various projects, as well as make recommendations to City staff and to City Council about issues related to the physical environment of Hampton. The board also plans and implements the annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner, which is held in October. Board members participate in strategic planning for the organization, but they also grab litter sticks and shovels and take action in the community.

This working board meets monthly, the second Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the Hampton Clean City Commission Conference Room, 1296 Thomas Street. Prospective board members, as well as anyone else, are welcome to attend – all meetings are open to the public.

The four standing committees of the Commission are Beautification, Clean & Green Businesses, Litter Awareness, and School Pride In Action.

Board members oversee the following standing programs: Adopt-A-Spot, Litter-Free Events, Clean Business Awards, YARDS Contest, Keep Hampton Green, School Pride In Action, and many more.
