FATHERHOOD ACTIVITIES

Being a father is a tough job.  Being a good father is even harder.  But, "Dynamic Dads" can help.   The 12 session program, offered once a week to dads of all ages, has a simple, time-proven message:  When fathers assume a responsible role in the family, both parents and children will grow and develop in healthy ways.

"Dynamic Dads" recognizes that men often are reluctant to talk about their fears and concerns.  By offering a supportive, male-only environment, a safe haven for fathers, the program promotes positive interaction and lively discussion about parenting challenges and triumphs.  Topics range from personal development and responsible father hood to how to build better relationships with all family members through effective communication.

Classes are free.  "Dynamic Dads" requires only a weekly investment of your time.  But if you make the commitment to find out what your child really needs from you as a father, the payback will last a lifetime!

About the Program

Each "Dynamic Dads" session begins with a free meal, compliments of a local restaurant.  Afterwards, fathers get together with one another and a group leader to begin the evening's discussion which lasts 2 hours.

The Fatherhood Program helps fathers build on their strengths to reach their full potential both as men and as parents.  Just as important, these programs help fathers to recognize how meaningful their involvement really is in their children's lives.

PROGRAM VALUES

Since children are our most valuable resource, good parenting is pretty much priceless.  In "Dynamic Dads," fathers learn that:

  • Children need the emotional, physical and financial support of both parents.

  • Successful parents not only must understand how all children develop, but also must learn to accept what is unique about each child.

  • Violence is not an acceptable way to discipline children or to resolve conflicts in relationships

New Dad Boot Camp

This is a 3 hour interactive workshop for men only in which veteran fathers orient "rookie" dads who are expecting their first baby.  Veteran dads demonstrate burping, changing, swaddling, and comforting a crying baby.  A broad range of issues are addressed including baby proofing your home, bonding with baby, supporting the new mother, and dealing with the changes that occur when a newborn enters the home.
