Leslie Fuentes was named the Director of Information Technology for the City of Hampton, Virginia in 2008. Fuentes has over 20 years experience managing state and local government information technology. As the Director of Information Technology with the City of Hampton, Fuentes develops, implements, and directs the information technology efforts for Hampton city government to include responsibility for information technology infrastructure, networks, communications, telephone systems, web services, office automation systems and PCs, security, disaster recovery, records management, geographic information systems and the portfolio of application systems. Fuentes also advises the City Manager's staff and city department managers on information technology services and security. Fuentes also spent 17 years at the Commonwealth of Virginia as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Computer, Telecommunications, and Networking Services for the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA), and the Deputy Director of Services for the Department of Information Technology for the Commonwealth of Virginia responsible for all central IT services, statewide IT contracts and the state’s participation in regional public safety communications coordination plans. In her role with the commonwealth Fuentes also managed all disaster recovery planning and COOP planning for the state central IT services and coordinated and participated with the Virginia’s emergency operations center. Prior to her position with the City, Fuentes held positions in consulting and marketing in the state and local government sector for ICG Government and Verizon Business. Fuentes is a native of Hampton Roads and holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Old Dominion University. |
