Cooler Weather Brings Tick Danger
The cool fall weather is a great time to head outdoors for hiking, camping and other activities. But it also brings out the Blacklegged Deer Tick, a carrier of Lyme Disease. This tick is active from early spring to late fall. It prefers cooler weather and can be active at temperatures as low as 50 degrees.
Make sure you protect yourself and your family by wearing light colored clothing (to help you see ticks), use repellent that contains DEET (20%) and tuck your pants into long socks. Pets are also susceptible to Lyme Disease, so ask your vet about tick control methods.
