Preparing Citizens to Respond
During an Emergency
Until city responders can reach everyone after a hurricane or other large scale disaster, citizens may be on their own for a period of time because of the size of the area affected, loss of communication, or impassable roads. To prepare citizens for such catastrophes - teaching them how to help themselves, their families and neighbors during a crisis - Hampton Fire and Rescue is offering Community Emergency Response Training (CERT).
This nine-week course is free and will be held at Fire Station #9, 1590 Briarfield Road, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. beginning March 4. A full class schedule follows.
