Workshop Teaches Local Churches
How to Cut Energy Costs

The Green Jobs Alliance, a Hampton-based nonprofit organization, is partnering with Virginia Interfaith Power & Light to present a workshop on how churches can cut energy costs.

The Energy Efficiency Stewardship Workshop will take place on Wednesday, April 5 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Drive in Hampton. Members of local congregations can learn how to save energy and reduce utility bills both at home and church.

Jerry Lawson, Nation Manager of ENERGY STAR's Small Business & Congregations Network, will be the keynote speaker. Lawson will be discussing how faith leaders and congregations can potentially reduce energy costs up to 30 percent by investing in energy efficient equipment, facility upgrades and maintenance.

This workshop is a component of a residential and commercial energy efficiency project being implemented by the Green Jobs Alliance through grant funding awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

For further details on the workshop, the public can contact Randy Gilliland at 757.814.000 or rgilliland@sustainimpact.com.
