Hampton to Receive Inch or Less of Snow on Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory for Tuesday, January 11.  Hampton is currently predicted to receive an inch or less of snow.  Most of the snowfall will occur Tuesday morning, transitioning into rain in the early afternoon.  Precipitation may transition back into snow during the evening hours on Tuesday.

The Hampton Public Works Department is currently pre-treating city roads and bridges and will continue throughout the day.  City staff members participated in a conference call Monday morning with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) and the National Weather Service.

An emergency shelter for the homeless will be open in Hampton at First Presbyterian Church, 514 S. Armistead Avenue, on Tuesday.
