National Institute of Aerospace to
Hold Ribbon Cutting and Technology Showcase
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, August 31 at 12:00PM to mark the expansion of Adaptive Aerospace Group, Inc. and Sierra Lobo, Inc. in the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) facility located at 100 Exploration Way, in the Hampton Roads Center North Park. Invited guests include local officials, community leaders and members of the media.
This event is by invitation only.
There will be brief remarks, a ribbon cutting and a technology showcase. Media will have the opportunity to interview staff, as well as officials. Television media will be allowed to film staff with research projects throughout the facility.
The 60,000-square-foot NIA headquarters building was developed by Craig Davis Properties, Inc. on property acquired from the City of Hampton's Industrial Development Authority. NIA is a $30 million non-profit research and graduate education institute involving more than 200 professors, researchers, staff and students. It conducts leading-edge aerospace and atmospheric research, develops new technologies for the nation and helps inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. It has served as a partner with NASA Langley Research Center to further the agency's national missions in aeronautics, space exploration and science.
The NIA consortium, led by the National Institute of Aerospace Associates, is made up of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation, Reston, VA; Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA; North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, NC; North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC; University of Maryland, College Park, MD; University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA; and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA.
