By completing the entire Hampton 101 series, you will receive a Neighborhood Partner Certificate acknowledging your participation and commitment to making Hampton's neighborhoods great. Realtor'sŪ attending will also receive the exclusive "Hampton Preferred RealtorŪ" designation when completing the series. Your application to Hampton 101 signifies that you are committing to attend the entire Hampton 101 series.

    Session 1 - September 30th - 6:30pm to 8:30pm (Community Room of the Peninsula Town Center)

  • Orientation
    • A brief orientation and introduction to the Neighborhood College with a description of classes, city staff and the Hampton on the Move tour.
  • Government 101
    • Hampton's Mayor and City Manager will give you an overview of the Federal and State government impact on local government, forms of city government and how Hampton operates. The roles and responsibilities of City Council in making policies and the City Manager and key staff in implementing those policies will also be explored.

    Session 2 - October 7th - 6:30pm to 8:30pm (Location: TBA)

    • Planning
      • The Community Development Department Director will share with you the City's vision, explain the role of the Community Plan, and provide updates on many of the exciting projects related to the City's Master Plans.
    • Neighborhoods
      • Hampton's neighborhoods are great places to live, work, and play. The Housing & Neighborhood Services staff and their partners will give you an overview of services, resources, and partnerships available to Hampton's neighborhoods that help to build strong vibrant communities.

    Bus Tour - October 9th - 8:30am to 12:00pm (Leaves from in front of the Hampton History Museum)

  • Bus Tour (Hampton on the Move!)

  • Tour our City and see first-hand how Hampton is growing and changing. Discover more about completed Neighborhood projects, dynamic Master Plan developments and all the fun and entertaining activities Hampton has to offer.

    Session 3 - October 12th - 6:30pm to 8:30pm (Emergency Operations Center on the 9th floor of City Hall)

    • Police
      • Hampton's Chief of Police separates fact from fiction in this impressive multi-media presentation highlighting all the exciting programs coordinated through his department. His team of dedicated officers will provide crime statistics and comparisons to other cities in the region and share success stories from citizens.
    • Fire
      • Hampton's Fire Chief sets the record straight on fire education, prevention and emergency management and how citizens can assist in times of disaster.

    Session 4 - October 14th - 6:30pm to 8:30pm (George Phenix K-8 School)

  • Youth & Education
    • Hampton City Schools
      • Hampton City School's team will share the innovative and unique educational programs currently offered along with information on the two new schools opening soon. In addition, the team will update you on Hampton City School's test scores, SOL statistics, rankings in relation to other local school systems and share success stories from parents, students and teachers.

    Session 5 - October 19th - 6:30pm to 8:30pm (Ruppert Sargent Building Conference Room- 1 Franklin Street)

  • City Service
    • An overview of vital city services displayed gallery style for all participants to gather information and sample the benefits of these services. Explore such services as, Healthy Families, 311, Parks & Recreation, Clean City Commission and Neighborhood Commission.
