In-SYNC Networking
Training
Training is critical to ensure successful youth. In-SYNC Partnerships, in cooperation with the Volunteer Center of the Hampton and Newport News, has developed a joint training calendar to try to better coordinate training efforts. Each of our partners has a wealth of experiences. Please contact us if you have a training need and we will see if we can find you some support within our Partnership. In-SYNC staff also offers some customized training in the areas of program development, mentors, and tutors.
Quality
Best practice is the marker of excellence. Each of our partners strives to achieve excellence in their area of expertise. In-SYNC Partnerships use the following State and National Standards guides to program quality:
- The Virginia Standards of Learning - Academic Achievement and School Success
- The Developmental Assets - Positive Youth Development
- The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the School-Age Child Care Project of Wellesley College Center - High Quality School-age Child Care
We use these standards to design our Neighborhood Center after school program evaluations. Our goal for the 2001/02 school year is to seek national accreditation for our after school sites. We also summarize the relevant results from evaluations used by the City of Hampton and Hampton City Schools and use these summaries to continuously improve program offerings.
Technical Support
In-SYNC Partnerships offers ongoing technical support for all aspects of best practice in after school programming and Neighborhood Center development. In addition, thought the many programs within our network, we can provide a wide variety of technical support, on a local, State, and National level, in most areas of social and civic concern. Please contact us if you have a need and we will see if we can link you to up to some assistance.
