DESCRIPTION:
Welcome to Hampton Virginia's Riverdale Neighborhood community...a place many of our retired and active military call home. The neighborhood region includes the smaller sub-divisions of Greenfield, Riverdale, Tanglewood, and Windsor Terrace, numbering well over 1,000 homes. Many of the homes were custom built, are well-maintained, and (when available for resale) are reasonably priced. Some new homes are also under construction in the area. Schools in the area are among the best in Hampton. The Riverdale Regional Civic Association is very active and works with other neighborhood groups throughout the City of Hampton to promote many quality of life issues that have positively impacted this and several other neighborhoods. Because the neighborhood is located in a convenient proximity to Langley Air Force Base, a predominant number of this area's original residents were Langley Air Force Base and NASA employees. Many of the original residents still remain and have been joined by people from numerous other walks of life, resulting in one of the most diverse neighborhood in Hampton.

HIGHLIGHTS:
The Riverdale Regional Civic Association hosts several activities throughout the year to bring community residents together and foster a sense of neighborhood pride. Among these activities are an annual Fall Picnic at Burbank Neighborhood Park, and a December Christmas celebration sponsored by the Riverdale Recreation Association. The celebration includes a cookout, bonfire, and a free bus tour of the Christmas light displays in the neighborhood. In addition to these and other events, the Association publishes a quarterly newsletter. Other neighborhood highlights are great neighbors, walking and biking paths and a neighborhood pool.

HISTORY:
Development dates back to the 1950's.
