" This quote by a resident of Willow Oaks sums up how most living in this beautiful and warm community feel about their neighborhood. Willow Oaks is very family oriented and one of Hampton's most established neighborhoods consisting of 426 lots, 15 common areas and a swimming pool. The neighborhood is located near, and just minutes away, from Fort Monroe and Langley Air Force Base in addition to dozens of amenities, retail establishments, and interstate. Houses are well maintained and sit on generously sized lots surrounded by beautiful oak trees. Within short walking distance is one of the city's most beautiful parks, Gosnolds Hold Park. The Park is the second largest in the city consisting of 105 acres and offers picnic facilities, fitness trail, athletic fields, playground, a BMX track and a public boat ramp. HIGHLIGHTS: Located within the neighborhood boundaries is Willow Oaks Village Square with dozens of amenities including a grocery store, library, post office, beauty shop, dentist, restaurants, video rental, banking, auto repair, framing, pharmacy, and dry cleaners, just to name a few. Homes are 1500 to 3500 square feet of living space and each is on a quarter acre. HISTORY: "Willow Oaks Farm", named after the beautiful willow oaks that covered the property, was the home of the Thompson family. When Harrison and Lear bought a portion of the farm for residential development, the name "Willow Oaks" was a natural choice. The long, thin leaf of this tree is now seen in many of the yards that make up "Willow Oaks". Established in 1965, the property was developed in 12 sections over a period of years. All of the streets in Willow Oaks are named after Civil War Battles. SCHOOLS: CONTACTS: LINKS: |
