Q: Why do I need to get a dog or cat license?
A: Dog and Cat licenses can be purchased at the Hampton Treasurer's Office. They are located at 1 Franklin Street. Cats are required to be licensed in the City of Hampton effective January of 2005.

Q: How much are the licenses?
A: The cost of a licenses are, effective January of 2005:
$4 dog or cat, neutered/spayed.
$10 dog or cat, NOT neutered/spayed.
$30 for kennel license to keep 10 or less dogs/cats.
$40 for kennel license to keep 11-30 dogs/cats.
$50 for kennel license to keep 31-50 dogs/cats.

Q:  When do I need to get a license?
A: Licenses are due each January 1.

Q:  What should I bring with me?
A: Proof must be provided that the animal has been neutered or spayed. A valid rabies certificate must be presented at the time of purchase. This information can be mailed but the original, not a copy, rabies certificate must be sent, as well as proof that the animal was neutered/spayed. Both will be returned with the license.
