Hours of Operation: The park is open seven days a week from 7am to sunset including Holidays.
Features: Briarfield Park is a regional 49 acre athletic park. It includes four lighted softball fields, five lighted tennis courts, four large picnic shelters that can be reserved, a fitness trail, and a large playground. For your convenience, there is a concession stand during softball league games and tournaments, as well as restroom facilities. For reservations call (757) 850-5116.

Directions: Take Mercury Boulevard east to Pembroke Avenue. Turn left onto Pembroke Avenue and follow until it turns into First Street. From I-64 take exit 268 onto Mallory Street. Follow Mallory Street to Pembroke Avenue. Turn right onto Pembroke Avenue and follow until it turns into First Street.
Hours of Operation: The beach and park are open 7AM to sunset daily.
Park Features: Bay front park with ¾ mile of clean beach. Kayaks and paddleboats are available for rental. There are two picnic shelters with tables and grills, children's playground, restroom facilities available May 15th through September 15th from 10:00AM - 6:00 PM, a stage pavilion for community events and ample open space. Dogs are not allowed in the park from May 15th to September 15th. Park Rangers are on site year-round.

Directions: I 64 exit 263B onto Mercury Boulevard heading East. Take exit for King Street and make a left onto King Street. Follow King Street to Little Back River Road and take a right. The park is aprox. 3 miles on the left.

Features: Gosnold's Hope Park is the second largest developed park in the city consisting of 105 acres. It offers the public eight picnic facilities complete with tables and grills, campsites, restrooms, a public boat ramp, a fitness trail, athletic fields, children's playground, picnic shelters with tables and grills for reservation, and a BMX track. There are 16 Trailer Sites designed for RV use only, no tents are allowed. The space is available 24-hours a day on a first come, first served basis - no reservations are accepted. Campers can stay no more than 14 days in any 30-day period and the $31.20 per night fee includes electricity, water hook-up, access to a shower and sewer dump. Each site features a picnic table and charcoal grill, user must provide own charcoal. We only accept Money Orders and Credit Cards. For reservations call (757) 850-5116.

Directions: I-64 exit 263A onto Mercury Boulevard. Take left onto Foxhill Road. Follow to Beach Road and make a left. Follow to end and make a left onto State Park Drive. The Nature Preserve is straight ahead.
Hours of Operation: The Nature Preserve is open year round from sunrise to sunset daily.
Features: Grandview Nature Preserve forms the northeast corner of the city of Hampton. The Preserve covers over 475 acres of salt marsh, tidal creeks, and Chesapeake Bay beachfront. The Preserve is open to the public free, but has limited parking along State Park Drive. The Preserve is a great location to beach comb, observe the migratory birds, and discover the wonders of wetlands.

Directions from Mercury Blvd: Turn north onto Fox Hill Road, turn left onto Beach Road, turn left onto Grundland Drive. The park is located at the end of this road.
Hours of operation: This park is still being developed, and is not open to the public for daily use.
Programming: A cold war NIKE missile site, Grundland provides an ideal location for outdoor recreation. Programs include moonlight paddles, ecotours and Outdoor Adventure Camp. Goal oriented training and team building activities are available on a 50 foot Alpine Tower ropes course, visible from the water. Please call 850-5134 for information.

Matteson Trail

The Matteson Trail is located at the Hampton's Golf Course and encircles the course. The 3-mile nature/fitness trail is named in honor of Tess Matteson, a member of the Hampton Roads Bird Club who was instrumental in the development of the trail. The trail begins and ends at the Sentara health and Fitness Center. The trail is open from 7:00 a.m. until sunset and walking in pairs is encouraged. Features: This 2 acre park comes complete with a 300 seat amphitheater and a picturesque view of the Hampton River. The park hosts a variety of special events such as musical entertainment and festivals, and is ideal for weddings. Admission is free.

- This facility is used by experienced and inexperienced bikers, skateboarders, and in-line skaters. Serious injury may result from falling or colliding with other users, the concrete surface, or equipment. Hampton Parks and Recreation does not assume responsibility for injuries - USE OF THIS FACILITY IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
- Safety equipment is recommended for all participants.
- Do not use the ramps/rails beyond your ability level.
- All participants must be under control at all times.
- One person, per ramp, at a time.
- No food, drink, or glass allowed in the skating area.
- No drugs, alcohol, weapons or smoking allowed.
- No littering or loitering.
- Profanity, recklessness and/or boisterous behavior are prohibited.
- No non-skaters allowed on the concrete area.
- Skater etiquette is expected at all times.
- No defacing of park property. Vandalism is subject to prosecution.
- Repeated infractions of the rules will result in the loss of privileges.
