Class A Contractor - works on contract for $70,000 or more or contracts totaling $500,000 or more over a one-year period. Years of experience required - 5.
Class B Contractor - works on single contracts for $7,500 or more but less than $70,000 or contracts totaling $150,000 or more but less than $500,000 over a
one-year period. Years of experience required - 3.
Class C Contractor- works on single contracts for $1,000 or more but less than $7,500 or contracts totaling less than $150,000 over a one-year period.

Right-of-Way Permit
A Right-of-Way Permit is also required. The Right-of-Way Permit fee is waived, but a $200 surety is required.
The cost for a Yard Sale Permit is $5 for three consecutive days. City residents can get up to three per year. (Businesses cannot have yard sales)
Yard Sale Permits are issued from the Treasurers Office, 757-727-6374, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. They are located on the 1st floor of the Ruppert Sargent Bldg at 1 Franklin Street in downtown Hampton.
City ordinances allow burning only under specific controlled situations. Call the Fire Prevention Bureau at 727-1210 to schedule a site visit by an inspector who can issue a permit.
To carry a weapon concealed on one's person in the City of Hampton, a permit must be acquired from the Clerk of Courts Office at 101 Kings Way. Fee is $50. Permit is good for 5 years. Call 727-6105 for more information.
