Welcome to the Hampton Planning Department website. The Planning Department evaluates zoning changes, use permits and wetland permits, prepares and updates the City's comprehensive plan and small area/neighborhood plans, reviews site plans and subdivision plans, is the City's focal point for demographic and census analysis, and provides staff support to the Planning Commission, Wetlands Board, and City Council. The Department's mission is to support the City by facilitating the translation of community values, goals, and objectives into a vision for the physical development of the most livable city in Virginia.
