There is a common misconception that robbery is the same as burglary. From a legal stand point, this simply is not the case. Robbery is defined as the taking of another's property by: force, threat, intimidation, or the presentation of a firearm (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+18.2-58). There is a very clear distinction between robbery and burglary. Simply put, robbery is the taking of property from a person and burglary is the taking of property from a home or business. To say one's home had been robbed is a misnomer. Houses can not be robbed, they can only be burglarized. Only people can be robbed!
The members of the Robbery Task Force pride themselves on the thorough investigations that they conduct. They are a dedicated group of investigators who work diligently to ensure that the City's more dangerous and violent criminals are quickly identified, apprehended and prosecuted for the crime of robbery.
