The Teen Police Academy is a two-week program for rising 9th graders through high school graduates. This academy provides students with a basic knowledge of various facets of law enforcement. Some examples of lectures include traffic stops, defensive tactics, field trip to the firing range and lectures on police related topics and more.

The Hampton Police Division will be accepting applications for the Teen Police Academy annually during the spring. The Academy will be held for two weeks Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00AM till 12:00 noon during the month of July. The exact dates will not be available until spring of each year.
Students of the Teen Police Academy will have the opportunity to become familiar with the day to day operations of the Police Division , Enabling them to gain a better understanding of the policies and laws that guide an Officer's decisions. Presentations will be made by Division personnel on the Division's mission, ethics, hiring, laws, crime prevention efforts, community oriented policing, the Communications Center, Emergency Operations Center, Marine Patrol, K-9, Bike, Crisis Negotiations Team, SWAT Team, Officer safety techniques and investigations.
The Academy is offered free of charge. Students must be rising 9th graders through high school graduates. Anyone interested in attending the Teen Police Academy should contact the Community Relations Unit at 727-6574.
