Salary and benefits for Hampton Police Division civilian employees are managed by the City of Hampton Human Resources Department .
Here's a snapshot of civilian benefits:
Benefits / Incentives
- Annual Merit Increase of up to 5% dependent upon job performance.
Holidays
- 10 paid holidays a year when not worked.
- Holidays that are worked will be paid at 2½ times the hourly rate.
Vacation / Normal Leave
- Annual Leave: 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 hours per month depending on the number of years employed.
- Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (accumulative).
- Military Leave: 15 days per year for Military Reservists.
Health and Life Insurance
- Health Insurance / Hospitalization: TRIGON BC /BS KEYCARE Plan
- Dental and Eye Care Plans also available
- Life Insurance:
- Natural Death 2 times annual salary
- Accidental Death 4 times annual salary
NOTE: The City pays a portion of your premium.
Personnel may add an Optional Life Insurance Plan at a low additional cost.
Retirement - Virginia Retirement System (VRS)
- Full retirement benefits at age 55 and a minimum of 30 years experience, employees may retire earlier with limited benefits.
