A Holiday Salute To Our Troops
December 1, 2008

On December 19 area residents will have a chance to break away from the busy routine of the holidays and to take a moment to acknowledge the brave efforts of our armed services personnel who are protecting our nation.
The event takes place at the Old Hampton Community Center, 201 Lincoln Street in Hampton, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The program will include motivational speeches, military cadences by the Phoebus High School JROTC color guard, patriotic activities, music, food, and drinks.
“This is a chance to shake the hand of a service member and say
thank you for your commitment to our nation during this special time of year,” said Hampton City Councilwoman Angela Leary. It will also be an opportunity for young people to learn about what makes this country great. Children will be invited to draw pictures of thanks, to be sent to those who are protecting our nation.
Military families, service personnel, and the public are invited to attend.
For young and old - children, parents, and grandparents - this is an opportunity to experience a healthy dose of patriotism and love of country during this holiday season.
This is a free event. For more information, call 727-1123.
