Hampton City Council Member Receives Designation

Hampton City Council member Angela Leary

Hampton City Council member Angela Leary recently earned a Certified Local Government Official designation from the Virginia Elected Official Leadership Academy of the Virginia Municipal League (VML). The Virginia Elected Officials Leadership Academy is a voluntary certification program open to elected officials in VML-member cities, towns, and counties. The purpose is to encourage continuing education, promote excellence in local governance, and recognize local elected officials who take advantage of training opportunities. Attainment of the Certified Local Government Official designation requires a minimum of 40 credits.

The Virginia Municipal League is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association of city, town, and county governments established in 1905 to improve and assist local governments through legislative advocacy, research, education, and other services. Its membership includes all 39 cities in the state, 156 towns, and 16 urban counties.
