Councilwoman Angela Leary Named as Chairwoman
of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority

Councilwoman Angela Leary was recently named the new Chairwoman of the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (HRHA) Board of Commissioners effective July 1, 2006. The position was previously held by retired Hampton Councilman Dr. Turner Spencer.

The HRHA provides affordable housing to low and moderate income people, housing service referrals, and opportunities to program participants to achieve self-sufficiency. HRHA also revitalizes and stabilizes existing residential and commercial areas of the city, and provides rehabilitation loans and grants to low to moderate income homeowners.

"It gives me great pleasure to serve as chairwoman for the HRHA," said Councilwoman Angela Leary. "The goal of helping all citizens have a good home in Hampton is definitely a worthy one of which I am proud to help achieve."
