Announcing Neighborhood Month . All Year Long!

April 3, 2007

May has traditionally been Neighborhood Month and the Neighborhood Commission has provided funding and other forms of support for neighborhood celebrations. Over the past few years, it has become evident that neighborhood celebrations occur all year long: summer gatherings, fall festivals, winter home tours, and spring gardens parties. All of these celebrations remind us that each Hampton neighborhood is a place we are proud to call home.

Many neighborhoods wish to celebrate at times that best fit their community needs and interests. Neighborhood leaders desire to host events that showcase their community to people who live outside of their neighborhood. In the past, Neighborhood Month was jam packed with many overlapping events and this often prevented neighbors from visiting and learning from each other.

To encourage neighborhood celebrations all year long, the Neighborhood Commission has decided to provide funding and other forms of assistance to neighborhood celebrations regardless of when they occur during the year.

More good news.mark your calendar for Saturday, May 19! The Neighborhood Commission and Hampton Parks and Recreation Department will host a Neighborhood Appreciation Celebration at North Hampton Community Center from noon until 4:00pm. Bring your family for a day of fun, food and games! Stay tuned to the City Page for more details!
