October 2, 2008Hampton Roads Cyber Security Awareness ConferenceThe City of Hampton and the National Security Cyberspace Institute are co-hosting the first annual 2008 Hampton Roads Cyber Security Awareness Conference on Tuesday, October 21 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. This day-long conference will focus on informing participants about cyberspace security challenges and opportunities while catering to government decision makers on the local, state, and federal government levels; military; academia; businesses, and industry experts. Participants will gain knowledge from local government, industry, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Defense experts on existing emergency cyberspace organizations, concepts, challenges, and activities. Scheduled awareness presentations will share cyber security information directly related to Hampton Roads businesses, academic institutes, and individuals while emphasizing the importance of cyber security and the adverse consequences of its failure. Scheduled speakers include Lt. General James Soligan, Allied Command Transformation; Hampton Mayor Molly Joseph Ward; Pat Ryan, Defense Initiative Manager for Cisco; Peggy Ward, Chief Information Security Officer of the Commonwealth; Major General US Army (ret) Wallace Arnold, Director of Technical Development for Hampton University; Major General Mike Worden ice Commander Air Combat Command; and Keith Boswell, Virginia Economic Development Partnership. Additional speakers will be announced in the near future. Admission to the event is $75.00 and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, and entrance to the conference.
