Brian Gordineer Selected as City Assessor



Brian Gordineer has been selected as the new city assessor for the City of Hampton, effective September 2.

Prior to his position with the City, Gordineer was the deputy director of the Real Estate Assessments Division for James City County. In addition, he served as the land use program administrator of the Real Estate Assessment Division for Henrico County and a real estate appraiser for the City of Richmond.

Gordineer received a Master of Business Administration degree and Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Fine Arts from the College of William and Mary and is a certified general real estate appraiser. He has received the professional designation of Assessment Administration Specialist from the International Association of Assessing Officers.

As city assessor, he is responsible for the annual reassessment of all real estate in the City of Hampton each year. He oversees the Office of the Assessor of Real Estate which interprets and administers all laws pertaining to real estate assessments; creates and updates the Land Book (Tax Roll); maintains accurate, current property information; and defends assessed values before the Board of Equalization.
