Live Nation Announces Cirque du Soleil's First-Ever Live Arena Event, Delirium, To Appear at Hampton Coliseum

May 8, 2006

As part of a limited 2006 North America tour, Delirium marks the first time in Cirque du Soleil's history that lyrics have been created for the instrumental track and real words used instead of invented language, bringing the music a fresh poetic dimension. To heighten the musical experience, Delirium incorporates acrobatic dances as well as classic Cirque du Soleil feats including aerial, acrosport, and hand balancing acts. Tickets for the Delirium performance will go on sale to the public Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Tickets can be purchased online at www.livenation.com or at the Hampton Coliseum box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, or charge by phone at 671-8100 . Ticket prices are $101.50, $86.50 and $71.50. The Hampton performance of Delirium is presented by Live Nation.

The large-scale production may be the most massive technical event ever created to tour arenas. With a 130 foot two-sided stage that bisects the arena, the audience is literally submerged in the huge set and 540 feet of projected visuals create an incredible interaction between the show and the spectators. Placing all this complex equipment in an arena is an intricate puzzle normally reserved for stadium performances. Delirium showcases 44 talented and multidisciplinary artists, including 11 musicians, 6 singers, 18 dancers, 8 acrobats, and 4 main characters. For the first time, Cirque du Soleil musicians and singers will be center-stage as their music will be the driving force of this colossal event.
